Education Council

Quality education is essential to the future economic vitality of the Greater Fort Smith Region which is why the Chamber believes in a strong partnership between business and education to help train and educate tomorrow's leaders and labor force.

The Chamber's Education Council brings Chamber members, business leaders and school representatives to the table to continue the effort to encourage top-notch achievement by our youth by rewarding exemplary students.

Each year, the Chamber congratulates the graduating Honor Society students from Northside High School, Southside High School and Union Christian Academy with a banquet held in their honor. The Education Council also promotes the Arkansas Scholars program by talking with each eighth grader in Fort Smith about the program and by hosting a luncheon each year to honor the students who successfully completed four years of being an Arkansas Scholar. The Chamber also awards thousands of dollars in technology grant money each year to local teachers through its Education Foundation.
