The Fort Smith Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Health Care Division is now accepting applications through Friday, October 24, for the 3rd Annual Healthy Workplace Award.
This award was created to recognize businesses in the Fort Smith Region that have been practicing workplace wellness and encouraging employees to make healthy lifestyle changes.
Why are healthy workplace initiatives important?Good for both your waist line and your bottom line?!
According to an article in Health Affairs (Katherine Baicker, David Cutler and Zirui Song Workplace Wellness Programs Can Generate Savings Health Affairs, 29, no.2 (2010):304-311) medical costs
fall by about $3.27 for every dollar spent on wellness programs in the workplace. Absenteeism costs fall by about $2.73 for every dollar spent. Adoption of wellness programs could prove beneficial for budgets and productivity as well as health outcomes for employees.

Please mark your calendars for February 2-6, 2015 when the Chamber celebrates Wellness Week. The February First Friday Breakfast on Friday, February 6th will include the announcement of our winners!
